Nextel Communications Inc. unveiled its NASCAR integration plan as part of its sponsorship of the racing series, including NASCAR-branded products and services as well as support for NASCAR programs in diversity, public safety, charitable giving, driver safety and incorporation of the motor sport’s integrated marketing and advertising initiatives.
The product and service plan includes the launch of NASCAR-themed Motorola i736 handsets, accessories and services catering to NASCAR fans. The handsets will include one NASCAR Nextel Cup Series phone and 10 driver phones featuring the design, color and number of specific drivers, with all of the handsets preloaded with NASCAR-specific content, including driver-specific wallpapers, ring tones, a digital racing stopwatch and NASCAR.com To Go.
Nextel also will provide a NASCAR wireless Web site that will contain a live leader board, driver backgrounds, race schedule and contest signups, as well as providing streaming audio service of races to handsets.
