PRINCETON, N.J.-Wireless gaming startup Kayak Interactive announced it scored a substantial $11.75 million in Series A venture funding. VantagePoint Venture Partners led the round.
“Our own view of the significant growth in the mobile entertainment market was clearly mirrored by that of the investment community at large,” said Andy Maunder, Kayak Interactive’s chief executive officer. “This shows that investors see us as the catalyst for expanding the revenue generated by the entire wireless value chain, from operators, to publishers to developers and handset manufacturers.”
Kayak offers software the company said supports multiplayer wireless gaming, and provides support for publishers and carriers.
Interestingly, several gaming content providers and carriers have already launched multiplayer gaming services, including Sprint PCS and Mforma.
