TOKYO-The MultiBand OFDM Alliance, which supports ultra-wideband technology, said it will publish a standard in May and plans to submit proposals for the IEEE working group.
The body, which has about 50 members, hopes to make the product available to the market next year. But the standards have had problems with a Motorola Inc.-backed group, which espouses a single-band approach.
“The market for UWB is quickly developing,” said Yoram Solomon, general manager of Texas Instruments’ consumer networking business unit. “In order to ensure rapid adoption and interoperability, it is crucial to have support for the technology throughout the value chain.”
