Fujitsu uses Symbian OS in new smart phone

LONDON-Symbian Software Ltd. scored another victory in the nascent mobile-phone operating system market, with Fujitsu Ltd. introducing its fifth smart phone using the Symbian OS. The new F900i is for NTT DoCoMo Inc.’s FOMA 3G service.

The advanced phone also features a 1.28 megapixel camera, fingerprint scanner and miniSD memory card slot.

Although Symbian is looking to take over the mobile-phone OS market with the backing of Nokia Corp., DoCoMo and others, research firm Zelos Group recently predicted that Linux would emerge as the industry’s long-term OS winner.
