BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless said it will make Eastman Kodak Co.’s Mobile Service available to its Get It Now customers, allowing users to view, share, organize and store their digital photos in one place.
Customers with Get It Now-capable camera phones can download the service to their handset for a free initial trial, and if they choose to keep the service, they can subscribe on a monthly or annual basis through participating carriers or directly through Kodak.
Kodak announced a similar agreement last year with Cingular Wireless L.L.C. as part of the carrier’s MMS offering.
Wireless imaging also got a boost from Canon Inc., Epson and Hewlett-Packard Co., which formed the Mobile Imaging and Printing Consortium to drive standards for image printing from camera phones. The companies said they expect to implement guidelines for the mobile-phone industry by the second half of this year and plan to use existing connectivity standards including Bluetooth, memory cards and a wired solution from PictBridge.
