PARIS-France Telecom and Alcatel Alsthom say they have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop next-generation architecture for a converged fixed, Internet and mobile network.
The MoU includes joint research and development teams, sharing of R&D funding, a limited period for exclusive relationship and the sharing of intellectual property.
“In today’s market context, both companies are convinced of the need to develop new types of relationships between telecommunications operators and equipment vendors in order to cope with the challenges of increasing competition and the convergence of the telecom, IT and multimedia industries,” said both companies.
