HERZLIYA, Israel-Israeli operator Cellcom will roll out Nokia’s Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) service. Commercial PoC service is scheduled for the second quarter 2004. Nokia says its carrier-grade PoC solution provides a smooth network software upgrade path to the upcoming OMA standard for PoC.
“Cellcom intends to become the first cellular operator in Israel to launch PTT services,” said Dr. Ytzhak Peterburg, Cellcom president and CEO.
Nokia is the sole supplier of Cellcom’s nationwide GSM/GPRS/EDGE network.
