NEWARK, N.J.-IDT Corp. said it will deploy commercial Wi-Fi phone service in the United States using its own network and infrastructure and Net2Phone’s voice-over-Internet Protocol platform for routing calls.
The service initially will be rolled out in the Ironbound section of Newark, N.J., within 30 to 60 days, providing IDT research to assist in the development of the service for other areas.
“By combining Wi-Fi wireless technology with IDT’s global telecommunications network and retail distribution, Net2Phone’s VoIP platform and the fixed-wireless infrastructure of IDT Business Services (Winstar), IDT is providing residential consumers with a more affordable and flexible phone service,” “said Howard Jonas, chairman of IDT.
