KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.-InterDigital Communications Corp. said its first-quarter earnings would be ahead of expectations, news that sent the technology vendor’s stock up 20 percent to $18.90 per share.
InterDigital said NEC Corp.’s third-generation handset sales, along with strong sales from the rest of the company’s licensees, will boost its first-quarter revenues to between $31 million and $32 million. InterDigital said its operating expenses will be about $25 million, and its net income per diluted share will be in the range of 6 cents to 8 cents.
InterDigital posted fourth-quarter revenues of about $25 million, and its revenues in the first quarter a year ago were about $37 million.
The company reports its quarterly results May 10.
