Webdate offers services through GSM carriers

MIAMI-Wireless users can now look for love over their handsets via new agreements with Webdate Mobile.

The service allows wireless users access to profiles with photos, searches and profile browsing, as well the ability to send and receive anonymous e-mail messages to and from other members. Webdate Mobile is available to customers of AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Cingular Wireless L.L.C., T-Mobile USA and several other carriers including Canadian providers Bell Mobility, Fido, Rogers Wireless and Telus Mobility.

The service is available to wireless users with Java-based (J2ME)-enabled phones. In July, a BREW-enabled version was launched in some U.S. Cellular and Cellular One markets.
“Since launching our service on U.S. Cellular and Cellular One just a few weeks ago, thousands have downloaded the service to their phones and thousands are now enjoying the benefits of mobile flirting,” said Abe Smilowitz, president and chief executive officer of Webdate. “Our latest version will enable us to reach millions of additional subscribers around the world.”
