T-Mobile USA sells first U.S. Sharp GSM phone

T-Mobile USA Inc. has launched Japanese handset maker Sharp Corp.’s first GSM mobile phone for the U.S. market, the TM-150.

The tri-band (1900, 1800, 900 MHz) flip phone features a 1-megapixel camera and dual-color displays. The TM-150 is currently being advertised on T-Mobile’s Web site for $350.

T-Mobile confirmed that the TM-150 was also made available in stores this week.

Sharp has had a deal in place with T-Mobile International under which Sharp is creating a line of phones, which are being sold across Europe, designed specifically for the carrier. The first of the co-developed phones was the TM-100 camera phone, made available in Europe in the spring.
