JONKOPING, Sweden-Datalink Nordic has developed a mobile service that allows users to send alerts from their mobile phones when they are in danger.
Users activate MLARM on their phones and then they can press any button to send alert data to the MLARM service. Predefined recipients are alerted and given location, time, starting point and destination information. The service can be configured to use different alert recipients based on time of day and activity, said the company.
The product is aimed especially at women.
“It is the logical choice to use mobile phones for applications such as this since many of us carry the phone with us at all times,” said Ola Samuelson, project manager MLARM. “I am convinced that a security service such as this will increase personal safety for thousands of people, and it will probably save lives too. To make it widely available we have started talks with operators and phone manufacturers.”
The service will be available throughout Europe early next year, said the company.
