OKLAHOMA CITY-Dobson Cellular Systems’ Cellular One today launched the Identity phone, a new handset that uses Wildseed Ltd.’s SmartSkins, an interactive wireless accessory.
SmartSkins are interchangeable covers that change the “mood” of the phone through a built-in chip. There are more than 20 SmartSkins available for purchase through Cellular One. Each skin loads content, including ring tones, wireless Internet links and screen savers, onto the phone.
“We are very excited to be the first carrier in the country to offer the Identity phone and SmartSkins to our customers,” said Craig Davis, public relations manager at Cellular One. “This is another example of the great new products we are able to offer thanks to our new GSM technology.”
