VANCOUVER, British Columbia-Sierra Wireless said it is cooperating with Intel to deliver integrated wireless connectivity solutions to mobile professionals worldwide.
The agreement calls for the companies to collaborate to develop and promote integration in wireless local area networking and wireless wide area networking.
The first step in the collaboration is more secure WWAN-to-WLAN roaming capability, combining Intel’s Centrino technology with Sierra’s AirCard 775 EDGE PC Card for WWAN. Customers who use the solution will be able to use their notebook computers to access and manage their wireless connections, whether Wi-Fi or cellular-based, through a single software interface and a single account for billing. The solution is expected to launch early next year.
