OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Corp. has signed on as the official communications service provider to the Academy of Television Arts & Science’s 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which airs Sunday night.
Sprint PCS will use the event to hype its new Vision Multimedia Services offerings, featuring streaming audio and video content from CNN, NBC Universal and Fox Sports. Sprint is promoting the show with a text message-based trivia game and will broadcast video clips from the event for subscribers to the carrier’s E! Entertainment channel.
“This venue provides an excellent opportunity to further strengthen the Sprint brand,” said Mike Goff, vice president of corporate brand management at Sprint, “allowing us to reach a new audience and promote the latest Sprint products and services-including those that are, in fact, television-focused, such as the new Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Services.”
Also as part of the agreement, Sprint said it will serve as official co-host of the event’s press tent, co-host the Annual Performer Nominee’s Reception Friday at Spago in West Hollywood and serve as the co-honoree of the Governor’s Ball immediately following the awards ceremony. Sprint will also provide award presenters with Samsung Corp. MM-A700 wireless handsets and limited-edition 14-carat-gold-plated phone charms.
