WILMINGTON, N.C.-Verizon Wireless opened a $30 million, 160,000-suqare-foot call center facility in Wilmington, N.C., which the carrier said will eventually employee 1,200 people by the end of next year. The center currently employs 900 people who have completed four- to six-week training programs and will participate in an additional six to eight hours of training every month.

“Verizon Wireless’ focus is providing customers with the best nationwide wireless network and customer service in the industry,” said Anthony Bowman, director of customer service for the new call center. “This new center will help us to continue delivering on that promise as we achieve record-breaking customer growth and retention.”
