PARIS-Alcatel Corp. announced it won two multimillion-dollar contracts by Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corp., Vietnam’s incumbent telecommunications service provider, to deploy switching and mobile infrastructure to enhance VNPT’s fixed and mobile services.
In addition to wireline equipment, Alcatel will provide Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Co., the mobile service subsidiary of VNPT, with a complete GSM/GPRS/EDGE mobile network to expand the operator’s network capacity in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and add value-added mobile services.
Alcatel said it has been working with VNPT on its telecom infrastructure in Vietnam since 1989.
