BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless and Yahoo! have teamed up to offer a solution suite featuring e-mail, mapping, news and weather-information applications to Verizon subscribers through the Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0 service.

“Verizon Wireless’ new offering of Yahoo!’s leading services deliver innovative features and cutting-edge technology that meet the needs of our customers because the services translate the familiar desktop experience to the wireless phone,” said Jim Straight, vice president of wireless data and multimedia services for Verizon.

Verizon’s Mobile Web 2.0 service is available for $5 per month, plus airtime fees, to Verizon subscribers.

Verizon also announced it has partnered with online weather information service WeatherBug for the weather information portion of its Mobile Web 2.0 service.
