Siemens, Mercedes-Benz enter phone partnership

MUNICH, Germany-Siemens AG and Mercedes-Benz announced a partnership to equip Mercedes vehicles with mobile phones. The first available device is the multimedia CX65 mobile phone, which can be included directly from the factory when ordering any Mercedes model in the E, CL, CLK, CLS, S, SL and SLK classes beginning this month.

The tri-band phone includes a VGA digital camera phone, an attachable flash light, an e-mail client and multimedia messaging service functionality and 40 polyphonic ringtones.

“With its high-quality wireless radio solutions, Siemens offers true value added for the premium automobiles from Stuttgart. Mercedes customers can have their vehicles equipped directly ex-works with the most modern mobile-phone technology from Siemens, ensuring even greater convenience when making and taking calls in the car,” said Thorsten Heins of Siemens Communications Group executive management.
