RadioShack to sell phones online through InPhonic deal

FORT WORTH, Texas-RadioShack Corp. reported a deal with online wireless distributor and activation provider InPhonic Inc. that will enable RadioShack to begin offering wireless phones and service plans through its Web site.

The deal calls for InPhonic, which said it distributes phones and services plans for all of the major wireless carriers including RadioShack partners Verizon Wireless and Sprint PCS, to operate and manage RadioShack’s online wireless store. RadioShack noted a customer will be able to order direct from a sales representative using a toll-free number or complete the transaction online using a credit card, debit card or check.

“By selecting InPhonic as our online wireless partner, we have added another level of sophistication and convenience for customers who wish to do their research or shopping online,” said Stu Asimus, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at RadioShack.

Terms of the deal were not released.
