DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-The Public Safety Foundation of America said Monday it has awarded nine grants in eight states totaling $542,000.
The grants were awarded as follows:
- $51,605 to Union County, Ga.
- $91,604 to the Grundy County, Ill., Emergency Telephone System Board
- $44,000 to Gentry County, Mo., Emergency Dispatch
- $55,603 to the Seward County, Neb., 911 Emergency Communication Center
- $101,755 to the Burlington County, N.J., Department of Public Safety Services
- $31,825 to Cherokee County, Okla., 911
- $66,106 to the Door County, Wis., Sheriff’s Department
- $47,957 to North Shore, Wis., Public Safety
- $51,555 to the Washakie County, Wyo., Sheriff’s Office
The PFSA was created in January 2002 by the Association of Public-safety Communications Officials to provide grants to first responders to help public-safety answering points complete necessary upgrades including being able to locate wireless calls. More than $12 million for 199 agencies in 41 states and the District of Columbia has been awarded.
