BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless launched Novatel Wireless Inc.’s V620 Wireless PC card for use on the carrier’s CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network, which Verizon Wireless said provides average throughput speeds of between 300 and 500 kilobits per second and was recently expanded to 32 major markets across the country. Novatel said the PC card is also backward compatible with Verizon Wireless’ 1x network, providing customers with continued wireless access when outside of EV-DO markets at average network speeds of 50 to 70 kbps.
The card includes a dual-band diversity antenna designed to enhance performance by maximizing data throughput.
The card will be available for $100 after a $100 mail-in rebate and two-year customer agreement through Verizon Wireless’ business channels beginning Jan. 17 and includes the carrier’s VZAccess Manager software. Verizon Wireless also offers the Audiovox PC5220 PC card for customers accessing its EV-DO network using laptop computers.
