Cingular subscribers gain MobiTV access

LOS ANGELES-Idetic Inc. has brought its live, mobile TV service to Cingular Wireless L.L.C. customers.

Cingular customers can now get MobiTV, a 22-channel broadcasting service featuring content from MSNBC, ABC News Now, Fox Sports, C-Span and other providers. The service is available on four Cingular handsets-the Nokia 6620 and Motorola V220, V180 and V2 RAZR-and will soon be available on two new phones.

“Corresponding to our increasingly mobile lifestyles, it is no surprise that MobiTV is a very popular service in the market today, and we are happy to be able to provide the service and an array of video-capable handsets to our customers,” said Jim Ryan, Cingular’s vice president of data product management.

The announcement was expected: In October, MobiTV launched through AT&T Wireless Services Inc. as it was in the process of merging with Cingular.
