NEW YORK-Comverse Technology Inc. unveiled a software offering designed to help carriers detect and block spam, the technology company said Wednesday.
ISMS Shield is a three-tiered platform providing detection, prevention and management capabilities of unwanted text messages, Comverse said. The product is designed to adapt to future detection methods and to be open to third-party tools.
Mobile spam has become common in some Asian markets, and users in South Africa and Europe are beginning to report problems with unwanted messages. Last week, a Canadian subscriber said she was receiving numerous spam messages on her handset.
“Mobile phone spam greatly concerns operators, since it can lead to revenue leakage, churn and regulatory sanctions,” said Uri Arad, president of Comverse’s Multimedia Applications Group. “ISMS Shield provides a solid line of defense to protect the network and fight this ever-increasing threat.”
