MORRISTOWN, N.J.-Alcatel Corp., Huawei Technologies, Lucent Technologies Inc. and Nortel Networks Ltd. have joined the TeleManagement Forum’s Co-operative Open OSS Project, which is designed to improve interoperability and simplify deployment of mobile network management systems.
The four companies join existing members of the project, including L.M. Ericsson, Motorola Inc., Nokia Corp. and Siemens A.G. The goal of the project is to simplify integration of network equipment and management systems from multiple vendors in mobile operator networks.
“Thanks to the added commitment from the new members, the CO-OP Project is now fully resourced to achieve its first-phase targets,” said Juha Lipiainen, chairman of the CO-OP Steering Council. “The companies in the CO-OP Project bring the needed expertise, competence and wide technology coverage to ensure that all CO-OP objectives can sufficiently be discussed and that practical, implementable solutions can be defined.”
