Indian carrier tops 10M subscribers

CALCUTTA, India-Carrier Reliance Infocomm announced it has exceeded the 10-million subscriber milestone for its CDMA2000 1x service since it launched the network in May, 2003.

With its `R-Connect’ high-speed Internet service, the carrier said it has offered more than 100 applications, including video clips, interactive TV programming, city guides, live news and messaging.

“Our CDMA2000 1x is available nationwide and allows Indian consumers across the country to enjoy and experience the same quality and features that this technology enables and delivers,” said Kamal Nanavaty, chief operating officer for wireless at Reliance Infocomm.
