Blue Frog sues over ‘bling’ phrase

SEATTLE-Publisher Blue Frog Mobile is suing to protect its Bling.

The wireless publisher said it has filed suit in U.S. Federal District Court to prevent French media company Lagardere North America Inc. from using “Bling Tones,” which Lagardere has named its new mobile music division. Blue Frog said the name infringes on the trademark it received last year for “Get Some Bling in Your Ring.”

Blue Frog is also asking the court to force Lagardere to stop using “The Hook Up” in its advertising, claiming a Blue Frog subsidiary has been using the phrase since May 2003.
