CANNES, France-The GSM Association announced an integrated messaging initiative aimed at encouraging richer messaging formats for the mass market that simplify multimedia messaging service and mobile e-mail.
A GSMA project team of operators defined the solution, including service requirements and technical specifications. The solution includes features such as a single inbox and address book for all store and forward messages, automatic selection of message type, and a single message composer.
“Sophisticated simplicity is the capability that will drive the mobile market forward,” said Rob Conway, chief executive officer of the GSMA. “The more we can do, the easier it needs to be. Integrated messaging will be crucial in streamlining messaging services for the subscriber.”
