DENVER-Verizon Wireless continues to gradually roll out its ring-back tone offering, announcing that the service is now available in Colorado, Idaho, Utah and southern Wyoming.
Ring backs are snippets of music that a caller hears instead of a traditional ring, and many believe the application may eventually outperform ringtones in terms of generating revenues. Verizon subscribers who pay a $1 monthly fee can spend $2 to use a ring-back tone for a year, and different tunes can be chosen based on the time of day and who is calling.
The carrier’s ring-back library includes more than 2,400 songs from 13 music genres. Verizon initially launched service in a handful of California markets late last year.
