VANCOUVER, British Columbia-The Pacific Newspaper Group Inc. is using wireless marketing in an effort to drum up readership and revenues for The Province Newspaper.
The media group is publishing a weekly “Mobile On Demand” page with games, prizes, coupons and free content that can be downloaded to mobile phones. Mobile marketer Digital Youth is partnering with Pacific for the effort, which includes advertisements encouraging readers to send text messages.
The two companies will split short message service revenues generated by the campaign and from advertising sales on the page.
The Province publishes weekdays and Sundays and has an average Sunday circulation of 230,000 throughout British Columbia. Digital Youth maintains online and wireless communities for teens, claiming 30,000 members.
