NEW YORK-Wireless entertainment publisher ThumbPlay Inc. issued a casting call for content providers looking to tap the U.S. market.
The company said it is seeking partners from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa to supply ringtones, images and games through its recently launched Internet portal. ThumbPlay, which will offer the content to consumers primarily on a subscription basis, is taking submissions from potential partners through the end of April.
“What Expedia is for online travel, ThumbPlay.com will be for wireless content,” said Are Traasdahl, the company’s chief executive officer. “The direct-to-consumer model is just starting in the U.S. market, and ThumbPlay is leading the way.”
