Adobe Systems Inc. said it will acquire Macromedia in an all-stock transaction valued at around $3.4 billion. Macromedia sells a scaled-down version of its Flash player for mobile phones, technology that can display simple graphics and animations. As for Adobe, the company and other vendors offer technology to allow mobile-phone users to view PDF files.
Global Signal Inc. signed a definitive agreement to purchase 172 towers from ForeSite L.L.C. for about $30 million. ForeSite’s tower portfolio is focused in the southeastern United States, primarily Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana. Global Signal owns or manages about 4,200 towers and sites.
Datec Group Ltd. and eLandia Solutions Inc. entered a letter of intent to combine their businesses once eLandia completes its buy of Blue Sky Communications. eLandia provides wireless and cable TV infrastructure solutions. Blue Sky provides wireless service in American Samoa.

Flash memory technology vendor Silicon Storage Technology Inc. announced it purchased privately held Actrans Systems Inc. for around $20 million in stock and cash. Actrans designs flash memory and EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory).
Affiliates of The Blackstone Group have purchased a major equity interest in Global Tower Partners from Great Hill Partners. GTP operates more than 642 towers and 1,800 rooftop antenna facilities.
