HONOLULU-Online wireless retailer InPhonic Inc. reported an agreement with Hawaiian Telecom to provide operational systems in support of the carrier’s launch of wireless voice and data services across Hawaii. Hawaiian Telecom previously operated as Verizon Hawaii before recently being acquired by The Carlyle Group for $1.6 billion.
InPhonic noted it will provide mobile virtual network enablement services to Hawaiian Telecom that will enable the company to deploy wireless voice and data services. The MVNE platform includes Web-enabled technologies for both Internet and in-store support enabling risk assessment, provisioning, handset activation, account creation and customer care at retail stores, dealers and call centers.
Terms of the agreement were not released.
InPhonic currently operates its Liberty Wireless mobile virtual network operator and recently announced plans to launch it Spanish-language Viva Liberty MVNO service.
