CHICAGO-Lucent Technologies Inc. announced enhancements to its Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem equipment. The vendor introduced new “blended lifestyle” services that combine voice, video and data capabilities that can be delivered on both wireless and wireline networks.
Lucent’s Active PhoneBook is a unified phonebook supporting an array of applications and devices that centralizes data and incorporates presence and location data. The services also include a streaming video solution and a multiplayer video gaming product.
“With the introduction of these additional blended lifestyle services, Lucent is building on its IMS momentum and enabling operators to enhance, customize and secure their service offerings, helping to generate new revenue and increase subscriber loyalty,” said Cindy Christy, president of the Network Solutions Group at Lucent Technologies.
In addition, Kodiak Networks and Lucent announced a global reseller for Push to Talk over Cellular products for IMS-based networks. The two companies also will work together to deliver integrated solutions to support Voice over IP and new blended lifestyle services across a variety of network types.
Under the agreement, Lucent will resell Kodiak’s PTT solution for third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 and UMTS networks. The companies will collaborate on system integration, interoperability testing, joint marketing, training and support of Kodiak’s full product portfolio. Kodiak is seamlessly integrating its RTX system with Lucent’s IMS gear.
