Unisystems, Nortel enter joint venture in Greece

ATHENS, Greece-Unisystems and Nortel Networks Ltd. signed an agreement to establish Uni-Nortel, a joint venture for sales, marketing and support of Nortel’s telecommunications equipment and networking solutions in Greece and Cyprus.

Uni-Nortel will be the sole vehicle for sales of Nortel carrier packet, wireless network and enterprise solutions into Greece and Cyprus and is expected to develop strong technical capabilities to support Nortel products in pre-sales and post-sales while continuing to service existing Nortel enterprise customers and channels.

“This joint venture will be focused on enhancing the communications experience and capabilities available in Greece,” said Dimitris Liaroutsos, president of Unisystems. “By combining Unisystems’ market presence and understanding with Nortel’s leading carrier and enterprise solutions, we hope to make a significant impact in the Greek telecommunications market.”

The companies expect to complete the transaction in the third quarter and said they will appoint a chief executive at that time. Unisystems will be the majority partner.
