Motorola wins $30M in contracts with MTC

CHICAGO-Motorola Inc. has signed contracts worth more than $30 million with Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Co. to expand, enhance and upgrade networks in the Middle East and Africa.

MTC will deploy Motorola’s Adaptive Multi Rate solution in Kuwait to boost voice quality, capacity and availability across MTC’s network, enabling 2.5-generation expansion capabilities for its more than 1.5 million subscribers.

“In a competitive telecoms market such as Kuwait, subscribers must have the access, voice quality and network availability to meet their communications needs. The Motorola solutions and services that MTC are deploying will enable us to offer those key deliverables to a wider base of mobile users,” said Khaled Al Hajeri, chief technology officer for MTC. “MTC Group will continuously perform ‘health checks’ across all of its networks implemented in 2001; we also will be enhancing the performance of our applications and data content. Motorola’s optimization and support services will help to provide this vital information and increase overall subscriber benefits.”

MTC has more than 9.5 million customers in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
