Boost offers community-based services

IRVINE, Calif.-Boost Mobile users can exchange e-mails, instant messages, pictures and profiles with like-minded subscribers under a new localized community application.

The mobile virtual network operator launched Boost Hookt, which allows users to connect with each other based on geography and similar interests. The service, which is powered by mobile application and content provider AirG, is available on Web- and Java-enabled handsets and is being offered in a free three-day trial.

Boost will charge 50 cents a day for access following the trial and will offer the service free on Fridays for a limited time.

The offering builds on an existing relationship between Boost and AirG that has seen similar applications gain traction “at a phenomenal pace,” according to AirG Director Frederick Ghahramani.

“The strong appeal of the Boost brand with the youth market is in line with AirG’s proven expertise in reaching this valuable demographic,” Ghahramani said.
