SCARBOROUGH, Ontario-Canadian telecommunications provider Telus Mobility added Motorola Inc.’s i860 handset for its iDEN-based Mike service. Telus noted the handset allows customers to send pictures, messages, contacts and other data using the device’s push-to-talk button.
“Telus Mobility has always dominated the push-to-talk voice market, and we’re delighted to push our instant-connect lead into multimedia communications,” said Robert Blumenthal, Telus Mobility’s vice president of products and services.
Telus is selling the handset for $293 without a contract or $125 with a three-year commitment. Nextel Communications Inc. and SouthernLinc launched the i860 last year.
