Ericsson offers device configuration product

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson released its new Automatic Device Configuration product, which the company said allows carriers to offer services targeted specifically for each user’s handset.

“We see tremendous potential for services beyond voice,” said Gunilla Fransson, Ericsson’s service layer vice president. “Thanks to our active device management solutions, operators can now reach the millions of users that are excited about their services.”

Ericsson said its new product stores information about users’ handsets and allows carriers to tune their services for specific phone models. Ericsson said the ADC includes support for remote software updates as well as other applications from the Open Mobile Alliance’s device management standards.
