SEATTLE-Blue Frog Mobile Inc. snared $16 million in a Series A financing round, the wireless content company said Wednesday.
Blue Frog sells ringtones, images, games and voice services through branded storefronts such as Ringtopia.com, Edgetones.com and Macktones.com. The company counts Cingular Wireless L.L.C., Sprint PCS and T-Mobile USA Inc. among its U.S. carrier partners.
Canaan Partners led the round of funding, and MK Capital also contributed. Rutberg & Co. served as Blue Frog’s exclusive financial advisor. The company said it will use the cash to expand its content offerings and step up marketing and advertising activities.
“We invested in Blue Frog Mobile on the basis of its tremendous market position and potential,” said Bret Maxwell, managing general partner of MK Capital. “We are excited to be able to play a key role in driving its continued success as a leader in mobile media and entertainment.”
