MetroPCS unveils prepaid Visa card, services

DALLAS-Regional wireless provider MetroPCS Communications Inc. unveiled a prepaid Visa card issued through a relationship with the Meta Payment Systems division of MetaBank and Galileo Processing.

MetroPCS said the reloadable debit card will allow customers to make everyday purchases, pay bills, send and transfer money, and receive direct deposits with a Visa card. Customers also can pay bills, send and transfer money, and check their account balances by dialing $222 from their MetroPCS phones.

The card includes Visa’s Zero Liability policy, which is designed to protect consumers against unauthorized purchases if the card is lost or stolen. Card users also can earn reward points that are redeemable automatically for savings on their MetroPCS bills.

“The MetroPCS card provides our customers with a superior and safer payment alternative to cash and checks,” explained MetroPCS President and Chief Executive Officer Roger Linquist. “And it provides cardholders even more choices when paying for goods and services, including the option to pay their MetroPCS bill directly through their mobile phone with no additional transaction fee.”

MetroPCS added that any of its customers can qualify for the card, regardless of their credit history, with no credit checks or security deposits required.
