Siemens buys OSS firm Garderos

MUNICH, Germany-In a deal that strengthens its wireless broadband portfolio, Siemens AG signed a takeover agreement with operational support systems startup Garderos Software Innovations GmbH.

In the deal, Garderos will continue to be run under its existing name as a fully owned Siemens subsidiary and its OSS will be a strategic element of the Siemens Integration Platform, which Siemens said enables a fast and flexible integration of wireless local area network, WiMAX and Flash-OFDM with mobile and fixed networks.

In addition, Siemens said a number of functions from the large operator networks, such as billing, roaming or authentication, also can be used for wireless broadband customers, and with its Wireless Integration Platform, operators looking to enter the wireless broadband business will have key competitive advantages over pure broadband providers.
