PARIS-Alcatel Corp. announced the deployment of its Mobile Next Generation Network in China for Zhejiang Mobile, a subsidiary of China Mobile.
Alcatel said its Mobile NGN was implemented by its Chinese company, Alcatel Shanghai Bell, and will help Zhejiang Mobile improve quality of service and reduce network operation and maintenance costs. In addition, Alcatel said that the core of the solution is the Alcatel 5020 Wireless Call Server, which controls distributed media gateways and manages voice and data sessions.
“With this first Mobile NGN deployment in China, Alcatel is delighted to take its relationship with Zhejiang Mobile to a new level,” said Marc Rouanne, chief operating officer of Alcatel’s mobile communications activities. “For us, this deal with Zhejiang Mobile is the perfect showcase of the added value that our Mobile NGN solution can bring to the bottom line of China’s mobile operators at large.”
