Nokia completes mobile WiMAX call

ESPOO, Finland-Nokia Corp. said it completed a mobile WiMAX data call and will begin WiMAX trials in 2006.

“This is an important step in our WiMAX development work, and we are very encouraged by the results,” said Markku Hollstrom, general manager of the broadband wireless business program of Nokia’s Networks division.

Nokia said it made the call between computing and baseband modules as part of its 802.16e WiMAX development program.

The WiMAX IEEE 802.16e version is expected to be standardized later this year.
