OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Nextel Corp. launched a new subsidiary that the carrier said will focus on offering voice and data offerings to large businesses and government customers.
Sprint Nextel reported that Sprint Enterprise Mobility Inc. will provide consulting services and develop solutions for large customers to integrate hardware, software, services and organizational operations. The subsidiary also will offer project and program management support and services that could include a fully managed approach.
“Most businesses recognize the potential that mobility solutions offer, but tell us they don’t have the expertise or resources to tackle major deployments across multiple companies and operating systems,” said Len Lauer, Sprint Nextel’s chief operating officer.
The carrier added that Sprint Enterprise Mobility aims to help customers make any location a workplace by extending voice and data communications beyond employees’ offices.
“Companies often work with multiple providers to meet their specific needs, particularly on a national or global basis,” said Bill Halpert, president of Sprint Enterprise Mobility. “Our team will work with Sprint Nextel, other wireless providers, leading systems integrators, device manufacturers and application developers to create comprehensive, tailored mobility solutions.”
Wireless carriers have significant interest in the enterprise space because the stakes are large.
