Kargo launches ‘superstore’ content portal

NEW YORK-Mobile content distribution company Kargo has unveiled plans for a content portal called FeverMobile.com, which is designed to serve as a superstore for consumers to download games, images and various types of ringtones.

The site is expected to launch in the first quarter on Cingular Wireless L.L.C.’s and T-Mobile USA Inc.’s networks, then expand to other national carriers. The direct-to-consumer Web site is expected to offer a combination of unspecified exclusive content deals and content developed by Kargo. Users can download individual pieces of content or choose from subscription plans at $5 or $10 per month that will allow consumers to roll over their unused credits. Consumers first must download a Fever Java application.

One of Kargo’s exclusive applications, originally launched in the United Kingdom, is the Fever Player. Users can download raw studio audio from an artist’s recording session, remix the tracks and save them as ringtones. Kargo already has a Fever storefront available to Cingular subscribers.

“The mobile user now has a superstore’s worth of content to choose from and they can buy however they wish; FeverMobile.com will be the ‘go-to’ place for the hottest mobile entertainment,” said Harry Kargman, CEO of Kargo.
