U.S. Cellular gets deferral on 3Q filing

CHICAGO-The American Stock Exchange has given U.S. Cellular Corp. additional time to regain compliance with its listing standards.

In November, U.S. Cellular failed to report its earnings on time for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, and AMEX threatened to de-list the company from the stock exchange. U.S. Cellular asked for and received approval on a plan to get back into compliance with AMEX’s standards; as part of that plan, the company was supposed to report its quarterly earnings by Tuesday, Jan. 17. Now, the carrier has until Jan. 31 to reveal its third quarter results.

U.S. Cellular has said that it requires extra time in order to restate previous earnings figures going back as far as 2000.
