Brightstar opens operations in Hong Kong

MIAMI-Brightstar Corp. continued to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific market with a new subsidiary in Hong Kong.

The mobile phone distributor and supply chain management company opened the doors to its new sales offices and a distribution center in the city, which it said will allow the company to serve local wireless operators. Brightstar recently launched operations in India, and opened offices in Australia last year.

Brightstar now operates 29 facilities in 24 countries; the company said it will continue to expand this year.

“We have spent a significant amount of time investigating new growth markets as well as working with our manufacturer partners, mobile operators and retailers to identify expansion opportunities,” said Javier Villamizar, vice president of high-growth markets for Brightstar. “We believe the dramatic growth of wireless adoption and technology in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, coupled with Brightstar’s proven successes in other markets, provide the right focus for our company’s further expansion as a global solutions provider.”
