LAS VEGAS—Mobile virtual network operator XE Mobile said it plans to launch its pay-as-you-go cellular service targeted at students during an event in Las Vegas next week.
The company said it will launch the service at a party April 6 at the Tao Nightclub in the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
XE Mobile’s service runs on Cingular Wireless L.L.C.’s network. The company is offering Motorola Inc. handsets including the Razr and the V180, and Nokia Corp. handsets including its 2600 and 3220 models.
XE Mobile is backed by Triple Five Group, which owns the Mall of America in Minnesota.
XE Mobile reported a marketing deal earlier this week with MobileSphere calling for XE Mobile to deploy MobileSphere’s CarrierILD solution for international wireless calling to XE Mobile’s customer base. MobileSphere also said it would promote XE Mobile’s service through its Web portals located on more than 20 university Web sites.
