Alaskan carrier bundles CDMA with DSL

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Alaska Communications Group Inc. is offering its digital subscriber line customers a free wireless PC card when they sign up for a mobile data plan that costs $30 a month.

The wireless data plan offers CDMA2000 1x EV-DO coverage in populated areas of the state and 1x speeds within the rest of ACS’ CDMA footprint, according to the company. It requires a two-year contract and offers unlimited data use.ACS serves south-central and southeastern Alaska, as well as the state’s North Slope. According to its coverage maps, the company provides mobile broadband coverage in cities including Fairbanks, Anchorage and Juneau.
